Minister Crystal Bates accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in August 1987.  A native of Longview, Texas! At the age of 12 years old, her journey of ministry began as a musician. She served as a pianist for various churches in East Texas.  In 2000, she relocated to Dallas, Texas, where she united with Friendship-West Baptist Church and has served in numerous ministerial capacities, to include, the Media Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, Music Ministry, Prayer Ministry, Decision Counselors Ministry, Grant Writing Ministry, Youth Ministry, Prison Ministry, Assimilation Ministry, and Social Justice Ministry.  For several years she has served independently as a ministry consultant, with emphasis on the areas of Organization & Ministry Development, and Assimilation.

She acknowledged her call to preach and teach the Word of God in 2003.  She joined KGCM Radio as co-host of the “Chaplain Morning Show” in 2008 and the “Women’s Wednesday Show” in 2011.  Also, in 2014 she joined the OPM Business Connect Live Radio Show, that is broadcast from Southwest Center Mall. She is the founder of “Cbates Ministry”, which stands for “Communities Building Attitudes To Encourage Success”!  Minister Bates truly believes that a person’s “attitude” can be groomed and stroked with hope, motivation, and encouragement.  She further believes that, with a helping hand, a person can be empowered to reach their full potential by aiming for the sky:  NO LIMITS!

Currently, Minister Bates is attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas pursuing her Master’s of Divinity degree at Truett Seminary! Minister Bates holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Economics, with a minor in Business of Administration from the University of Texas in Arlington.  In 2005, she was recognized by the university as the “9th African American female” to obtain this degree. She obtained her Associates of Science in Computer Science from Kilgore College in 2000.

Her faith has been tested and strengthened through the battle with Crohn’s Disease over the years.  She was diagnosed in August of 1987 and has experienced many difficulties and challenges, but yet with God she’s continued to be victorious over this adversity.  She has experienced God’s miracle working power of healing continuously in her life! Her ministry and who she is has been shaped by the challenges of life, her health, and raising her son! To God be the glory regarding these, and other, issues she has overcome!  Speaking of her son, she is the very proud parent of one son, Christopher! He is definitely the love her life!

As a living testimony, Minister Bates strives to share with others a “Big Smile of Joy in the Lord from within!”  Her goal is to encourage others with a simple message:  “Trust God, and know that no matter what you are going through, He is willing and able…and this too shall pass!”
